Police/Court Round Up

~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to make its presence felt in various communities and recently conducted an island-wide exercise geared at finding and removing illegal substances and other items from the streets.

The operation was conducted on Saturday, August 16 where searches for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition were made. A police press release informs that 69 persons and a number of vehicles as well as buildings were searched during the operation.

As a result of the operation, the press release continued, “A quantity of marijuana was found and taken into custody but no one was made answerable.”
 
In another operation which is part of the police force’s ongoing drug eradication programme, law enforcement officers conducted searches in the Christ Church area which resulted in 100 marijuana plants being found and uprooted. The plants were taken to the Tabernacle Police Station and have since been destroyed.

To date, no one has been held answerable for the find.

ARRESTS

The Federation’s Magistrate Court will soon be visited by persons who were recently arrested and charged for illegal activities in which they are believed to have been involved.

Clyde Murray of The Alley, Sandy Point was arrested and charged for making noise and throwing missiles while Parray Village, St. Peters Parish resident Leonard Gumbs was on Monday arrested and charged with an August 15, 2008 offence of wounding.

And an August 16, 2008 offence of “obstruction” was preferred against Leon Thompson of Stoney Grove, Nevis.
