BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER what some may describe as a 'stupid' yet daring attempt at heisting booze, a Basseterre man was sentenced to take up residence at Her Majesty’s Prison for the next few months.

A police press release issued today, August 20, 2008, informs that Theodore Williams of Thibou Avenue appeared before the District “B” Magistrate’s Court on a charge of “larceny” of a bottle of Hennessy.

SKNVibes made some investigations into the matter and was reliably informed that on Saturday, sometime around midday, Williams entered Daniel’s Trading Centre in Sandy Point and was acting in a suspicious manner which caused him to be monitored.

This media house was told that Williams sauntered for sometime in the isle which houses bottles of Hennessy and, after a while, he placed a bottle of the beverage into the basket he was carrying.

Before reaching the cashier’s checkpoint, as SKNVibes was told, Williams stuffed the bottle of Hennessy into his pants. At the checkout point, he paid for other items that he took from the shelves but failed to do the same for the Hennessy.

~~Adz:Right~~ Williams then proceeded to the exit and was stopped by a male employee who found the bottle of Hennessy on his person.

The matter was reported to the police, which led to investigations and the said charge being laid.

He was convicted on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 of the offence and sentenced to serve six months at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Meanwhile, Alexander Douglas of St. Pauls Village and Kwame Liburd of Buckleys Site were jointly charged with one count each of “disorderly conduct by fighting” and “simple wounding”, offences which, according to police, were committed on August 18, 2008.
