~~Adz:Right~~BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Robert Benjamin of Lower Fiennes Avenue was charged with drug-related offences after police conducted a search at his residence yesterday.
“On Friday 22nd August 2008 Police executed a search warrant on the premises of Robert Benjamin of Lower Fiennes Avenue for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition. Eighty-four marijuana plants were found growing in his back yard and a quantity of cured marijuana was also found in the house,” a police press release informs.
The man was charged with one count each of “cultivation of marijuana”, “possession of marijuana” and “possession of marijuana with intent to supply” and is expected to appear before the court shortly to answer to his charges.
The items were all taken into police custody.
COURT CONVICTIONS
A Belle Vue man was convicted and placed on a bond for resisting arrest and threatening to kill a police officer,.
Julian Samuel stood before the District “B” Magistrate Court on Thursday on charges of “making use of threatening language” and “resisting arrest” and, on the former, was placed on a bond “to keep the peace and be of good behaviour” for a six-month period, while he was fined $1 500, to be paid within three months, on the latter charge. Failure to pay the fine would result in the imposition of a three-month custodial sentence. April 17, was the date of the commission of the offence.
The other three persons who appeared before the said court were charged with and convicted of battery and also punished accordingly.
Lodge Villager John Willette was convicted of beating Florence Francis of the said Village and was ordered to pay $1 200 compensation to her. The sum is to be paid within four months or he would have to serve a two-month imprisonment.
A $1 000 fine was handed down to Benjamin Ward of Tabernacle after he was convicted of beating Travis Hope also of that Village. The sum is to be paid within six months or he would have to serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.
Zylon Carey of Tabernacle was placed on a six-month-bond after conviction of “battery” and “making use of threatening language” against Franklyn Moses. Carey is to stay no less than 100 feet from the virtual complainant who resides in the same Village.
