One allegedly killed by police in Shadwell
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OWNER of the Texaco Gas Station within Gillard’s Enterprises at Douglas Commercial Development along the FT Williams Highway was last night (Aug. 19) shot during a robbery.
Reports reaching this publication state that the gas station owner, Frederick Gillard, was shot in the leg by one of two individuals who robbed the entity of an undisclosed sum of money.
This media house learnt that the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. and that Gillard was rushed to the JNF Hospital where he is currently warded.
SKNVibes also learnt that during the police’s response to the robbery, they had surrounded a house in the Shadwell in search of the suspects. And, while there, a man emerged from within in a boisterous manner, confronted the officers and was shot dead.
Information reaching this publication states it was unlikely that the dead man had anything to do with the robbery and that he was considered to be mentally challenged.
This media house contacted the Police Press and Public Information Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, who confirmed that Gillard was shot and robbed but did not make any pronouncement on the man allegedly shot and killed by the police.
This morning he however promised that information would be provided through a press release.
