BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH soaring hopes of a memorable voyage, many excited local vacationers left the Federation yesterday to experience the largest Western Caribbean cruise organised by Kantours Travel Club, St. Kitts.

Touted as the “Hot Summer Cruise” and advertised since early January, over 60 locals winged out from the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport to join hundreds of other tourists aboard the Carnival Triumph, one of the more established cruise ships of the Carnival Cruise Line.

Speaking with SKNVibes, Kantours Manager Jasemin Warner-Weekes said her company wanted to offer vacationers a pleasurable cruise and to eradicate the belief that cruises are expensive.

“This cruise is part of a public awareness drive to sensitise all on the convenience of a cruise. We want to dispel the myth that a cruise is expensive,” she said and added, “Because it is affordable and enjoyable!”

“We continue to target social organisations, businesses and even families to offer them a unique vacation experience. It is ideal because one gets to experience the culture and pleasure of different destinations without having to worry about luggage or tiresome travel.

“We are indeed pleased to announce that this year’s local contingent almost doubles last year’s 34 travellers.

Hopefully, by next year, we should be able to have over 100 persons travelling with us. Many first-time cruise travellers are ready to experience a vacation with a difference,” the Manager explained.

The Carnival Cruise Line is hosting this year’s seven-day Western Caribbean tour, which offers travellers an entire day of shopping and or relaxing in Miami before they head off to Cozumel, Mexico. Travellers will also be visiting Ocho Rios, Jamaica and neighbouring Georgetown, Grand Caymans.

The package includes free meal plans with an ‘all you can eat’ policy, free entertainment, full tours of countries and full access to cruise services and events.   ~~Adz:Left~~

A young couple expressed the hope of just enjoying “a classy yet convenient time away from home”. They said, “This is our first cruise and the package is awesome, so we are just looking forward to having a good time.”

Another local traveller stated that “the price isn’t bad at all! I really never knew that it was that affordable for all the events and services that the cruise is offering. More people should know of this”.

Warner-Weekes wishes to encourage everyone to understand the ease and convenience of vacationing by cruise. She hopes that for the next cruise, there would be different destinations, a different cruise line and many more local travellers.
