Students from Nevis, St Martin, Montserrat, Dominica, Bequia and Barbados have also made use of this school’s tuition and enquiries have come from as far afield as Venezuela.

Director of NECAS, Dr. Albertine Chaderton informed SKNVibes in an exclusive interview that NECAS offers three different types of study packages – the traditional face to face mode; On line tuition and Classes using Skype for two-way discussions.

Dr. Chaderton was also particularly pleased with the now greater flexibility of ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) in offering certification for each level a student successfully completes in the Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) programme.

“A certificate to acknowledge the different levels achieved is more encouraging and rewarding to participants,” she said. “Previously if a student did not complete the entire programme, s/he would have acquired a considerable amount of accounting skills but would have no certification to prove this to prospective employers.”

It is worthy of note that Accountancy is a field in which jobs are always available as all business, large or small, require the services of an accountant or accountant technician

The value of NECAS lies in its ability to train beginners with no previous accounting knowledge as well as graduates with the academic qualification of B.Sc Accounting to becoming fully fledged professional Certified Accountants or Certified Accounting Technicians.

According to Dr. Chaderton, “Course participants can learn introductory and intermediate levels of financial and management accounting while higher levels provide options to try courses in taxation, financial management and auditing.”

In addition, “small business owners who may be interested only in learning how to record financial transactions and maintain their financial records can compete the relevant courses (for instance, there are QuikBooks classes) without feeling pressured to advance to other courses less pertinent to their day to day requirements,” she said.

The aim/goal of NECAS is to provide tuition to help in training aspiring students to qualify in their chosen field of Accounting.

The Director admits it takes dedication and commitment to study at home, but every effort is being made to assist students in meeting the demands of the courses. Some classes are held as early as 5 a.m. so that working students can be accommodated.

The North Eastern Caribbean Accounting School (NECAS) is located at Greenlands, Basseterre and has earned accreditation from ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants).

Aspiring students can get more information at the NECAS website – www.ne-cas.com or directly from the Director of Studies, Dr. Robertine Chaderton at 869-465-1011 or rachad@sisterisles.kn
