BASSETERRRE, St. Kitts, August 20th 2012 - Kendie Browne-Williams shook and stirred her way to the title of Angostura Mixmaster 2012.   Her cocktail concoctions received the judges’ sip of approval for the second year in a row.  From the carefully-selected background music to her locally-crafted stemware, the Four Seasons employee did the ground work and fittingly received the reward.

The setting was the Rum Barrel at Port Zante and throngs of Friday afternoon limers intermingled with some curious cruise ship passengers to form the cheer leading section for the six competitors.  Coordinated by C&C Trading Ltd, the competition each year gives local bartenders an open forum to blend their cocktails and cash in on the prizes of US$1,000, $500 and $300 for first, second and third place winners respectively.

Ricardo Acquing, Angostura’s representative from Trinidad and Tobago witnessed the keen mix-off, serving as time keeper in between engaging onlookers for Angostura prizes.  “I am very happy with the support from the local audience and even more impressed that this year we had six competitors,” said Acquing.

Anthony “Bo” Liburd led the bartenders into competition mixing his two cocktails comprised of a free style mix and an Angostura-based cocktail.  His presentation set the tone for the other five competitors who stirred up the competition with their artful concoctions.  The three judges were kept busy tasting cocktails with curious names like under the sea and Angos passion.  Some of the bartenders even shared samples of their creations with their fans hoping to get their nod of approval.

In the end, the two top places were won by the two female bartenders from Nevis, with Stavena Lewis placing second to her Nevis counterpart Kendie.  Adrian Alexis Tobias, an independent  competitor had to settle for third place with his Freestyle  mix called – Angostura Celebration and his Rum Based - Angostura Sweet Basil Mojito.

For their participation all of the contestants were presented with a hard cover copy of an Angostura recipe book by event coordinator Keithley Phillip of C&C Trading.  In a demonstration of support for the competition, mobile provider Digicel pitched in with three substantial prizes.  The third place winner received  $300 of credit for his service, while the second place winner received a Blackberry phone.  The Mixmaster champion was awarded with a Samsung Galaxy s3.   The presentations were made by Digicel’s Country Manager – Sean Latty.

Crowning off the proceedings, Director of C&C Trading Ltd, Laverne Caines presented the giant cheque of US$1,000 to the two-peat winner Kendie Browne-Williams.  She was challenged to “mix away the competition at the regional  leg of the mixmaster  in Antigua and mix her way to the global event in Trinidad next year.”

C&C Trading Ltd congratulates and thanks all of the participants and extends an invitation to other bartenders to showcase their skills at next year’s competition.
