RFA Argus to Visit Montserrat

    BRADES, Montserrat, August 23rd 2012 – The Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) Casualty Ship “Argus” is to make an official three day visit to Montserrat commencing on Wednesday 5th September.

     

    Argus is the current Atlantic Patrol Task Force (North) vessel and is making its first visit to Montserrat. It is one of the biggest ships in the RFA’s fleet.

     

    Argus has a crew of 85 RFA officers and men plus 95 Royal Navy Officers and men. The ship is positioned in Caribbean waters throughout the hurricane season and is ready to provide assistance and relief in the aftermath of any disaster.

     

    During the ship’s visit a number of disaster related activities will be practised with the assistance of the DMCA and the RMDF as well as its officers receiving briefings from the MVO and other agencies on island.

     

    The crew will engage in some sporting and leisure activities on shore during the visit.
