She is Spirit filled: abuzz with energy from her youth, brimming with an abundance of wise souls.
She is Sandy Point.
Sandy Point, whose residents exude a perpetual pride in being called Sandy Pointers, is home to an extensive blend of men and women who are confident, passionate, bold and proud lovers of their hometown. They stand ever tall and hold steadfastly to their love of community.
It is this sense of pride and love for community on which the Sandy Point Benevolent Society was founded. For well over fifteen years, this organization of patriotic men and women who reside overseas, has committed their time and resources to support the Charles E. Mills Secondary School as well as other Sandy Point institutions of learning.
The organization continues to draw substantial support from organizations, groups and individuals the world over, in an attempt to ensure today's students achieve their best academically with the tools that can aid in their pursuits.
For the second year in succession, the Sandy Point Benevolent Society will take on the Herculean task of staging a classy and high energy affair with a view to ensure that the students of Sandy Point and it's environs are better equipped to face their academic challenges during the upcoming school year and beyond.
The extravagant Benefit Gala will be held under the distinguished patronage of the federation's Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.
The importance of this event will be appreciated by every guest who attends, as the Prime Minister will be joined by St. Kitts-Nevis Ambassador, Her Excellency Deputy Jacinth Henry-Martin, as well as Deputy Leader and parliamentary representative of the opposition PAM Party Mr. Shawn Richards.
This year's Gala will feature as its special guest speaker, H. E. Dr. Simon B. Jones-Hendrickson, an Economics Professor, Writer and former St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, CARICOM and the Association of Eastern Caribbean States. Honorees include Dr. Joseph Halliday, past Principal of the Sandy Point High School and Dr. Hannah Guishard, Veterinarian and distinguished alumna of Sandy Point High School.
Bringing together such an esteemed group of guests, is certainly no small feat and qualifies this occasion as the “must attend event of 2012”.
The Benefit Gala takes place on Saturday September 1, 2012 from 8 pm to 2 am, at Maestro’s, 1703 Bronxdale Avenue, Bronx, New York, 10462.
The Sandy Point Benevolent Society is an entity of patriotic visionaries, who understand that others paved the way for them and that their civic duty is to use their creative juices to do likewise for our current crop of promising students. Their work for their community is in effect their commitment to uphold the needs of the youth of the federation of St. Kitts & Nevis above themselves.
