                                               Director of Water and Sewerage to Leave Office


    Mr. Julian Willock

     

    Roadtown, Tortola- The Director of the Water and Sewerage Department,Mr. Julian Willock, is expected to leave office on Friday, August 29 to commence Study Leave.

     

    Mr. Willock, who has been the director of the department since October 2004 currently holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Certificate in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies. 

     

    Mr. Willock told the Department of Information and Public Relations that he has enjoyed his tenure at the Water and Sewerage Department.  “I commend the hard work of the staff of the Water and Sewerage Department and I am thankful for the support received from the Ministry of Communications and Works, Department of Human Resources and the Ministry of Finance,” Mr. Willock added.

     

    “During my tenure at the department there have been many significant accomplishments such as improved customer service, better working conditions for employees and more emphasis on water services on the Sister Islands,”  Mr. Willock said.

     

    In addition, Mr. Willock said the resumption of regular monthly billing to customers, the reduction in the number of illegal water connections, the availability of payment options, the implementation of a leak detection programme, increase in revenue, expansion of water access to residents including Anegada, payment plans on delinquent or high bills, and better communication with customers were among some of the goals achieved during his tenure as director.     ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    “While the accomplishments of the department were numerous, the challenges still facing the department are of equal concern to me, particularly in the area of sewage disposal,” Willock explained.

     

    “I am extremely confident that the Ministry of Communications and Works will do what is necessary to address the sewerage issues in Road Town, Look Long and East End and the water shortage,” he added.

    The Ministry of Communications and Works applauds Mr. Willock on the job he has done in bringing the Water and Sewerage Department to the level where it is at today, and wishes him every success in his educational pursuits.

     

    The Water and Sewerage Department was established in 1980 under the Ministry of Communications and Works to provide the people of the Territory with a continuous supply of potable water, and an environmentally sound sewage disposal system.
