    One arrested for Pemberton’s murder

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE seem to have made a breakthrough in the case of the murder of Steven Pemberton with the formal arrest and charge of a Cayon resident.

     

    Delvin ‘Jerimiah’ Benjamin of Cabbage Tree Project was picked up by police on Sunday and was said to be assisting with investigations into the incident. 

    However, a police press release issued today, [Aug. 26], informed that he has since been charged with murder. 

     

    The release further informs that Benjamin would appear before the court shortly, “where he is expected to be remanded to prison”.

     

    Benjamin is being held responsible for Pemberton’s shooting death which took place on Saturday, August 23. 

    According to information received by this media house, at about 11:25 in the evening, Pemberton was walking through an alley in Ottleys Village when he was attacked by a gunman.  ~~Adz:Right~~

    Resultantly, he sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital.

     

    Pemberton’s murder marks the 15th to have occurred in the Federation for the year. 

     

    As at the end of 2007, there were 16 homicides with the last one being committed on November 27 while in 2006, there were 17 murders with the last being committed on December 6.
