SKELEC continues to implement measures that will improve efficiency while lowering cost

By: SKELEC, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, August 27th 2012 - Beginning Monday 27th August, 2012, SKELEC will again embark on another pole mapping exercise. The Company began this method as a pilot project using SKELEC technicians, but decided to expand it further by outsourcing the work to contractors. This move will improve the speed by which the exercise can be completed.

There are three (3) teams of two (2) personnel each. Each team will take a full inventory of the pole, such as, transformers, lines fittings, etc. The GPS location of the pole will also be mapped, along with any other service lines, for example, Cable or Telephone. This will allow SKELEC to be able to know the number of street lights, where they are located and if there is any maintenance needed. This exercise will increase and improve the efficiency of maintenance work for Emergency crews.
