BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ‘OUR Identity, Our Survival’ is the new single released by the Ultimate Band of St. Kitts and Nevis and is being featured on www.islandmix.com
The website is a Caribbean site that features Caribbean music, specifically soca and reggae, and the song is featured on their 2012 Soca Chart.
The chart also features artistes from Trinidad and Tobago.
“The song was written by the Ultimate Band and was inspired by the theme of Culturama which also reflects on the nature of the band which is our identity and survival,” the band’s spokesperson said.
The band features members from both St. Kitts and Nevis and has been around for five years, according to a spokesperson of the group.
The members of the band are Nickhail ‘Nick’ Rogers (lead vocals), Zekey ‘Zeeky’ Leader (vocals), Chester ‘Ants’ Davis (bass player), Jamal O’garro (drums), Zahmoya ‘Ziggy’ Nisbett (second keyboard player) and Kyle ‘Daddy2Sec’ Roberts (music arranger and lead keyboard player).
“The motivation for Ultimate Band is to produce music that incorporates a unique blend of resonant vocals and catchy-inspired melodies, over a fusion of rock riffs and island beats with hints of soca and reggae that can best be described as Caribbean Music.
“This style has elevated us to mainstream popularity, allowing Ultimate Band to become a household name in St.Kitts and Nevis and throughout the Caribbean circuit where we consistently win over audiences with their electric and high-energy performances,” the spokesperson said.
They are also hoping to make their mark for this year’s National Carnival as they are preparing to be on the road.
