~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JEFF ANTHONY of Basseterre was sentenced to serve time in prison after he was convicted of stealing two car batteries from a parked vehicle.

Anthony appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of “larceny” which was believed to have been committed sometime between July 11 and July 18, 2008.

Upon conviction, Anthony was sentenced to serve one year imprisonment at Her Majesty’s Prison.

SKNVibes made investigations into the matter and learnt that a truck belonging to Melvin ‘Mellie’ Hewlett was parked at a Band House at College Street on Friday, July 11, with both batteries intact. When he returned to use the vehicle on the morning of Friday, July 18, Hewlett turned the ignition but there was no activity. Hewlett reportedly checked under the hood of the vehicle and discovered that both batteries had been removed.  The matter was reported to the police and investigations were made which led to Anthony being arrested and charged.

The batteries, according a police press release, were valued at EC$700.

Meanwhile, Bath Village resident Karliss Clarke was on Monday, August 25, arrested and charged with an August 22, 2008 offence of “unlawful carnal knowledge” and is scheduled to make an appearance before the court shortly to answer to the charge.
