ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, August 20th, 2012 - Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office Mrs. Rosalie Adams congratulates Chief Planner Mrs. Marva Titley-Smith for her recent achievement on becoming a Chartered Manager and admission as a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The professional designation is awarded by the CMI and is the highest status that can be achieved in the managerial profession. The designation of Fellow is awarded to members who have over 10 years demonstrated management experience, with a minimum of three years at a strategic level.

"I congratulate Mrs. Titley-Smith for her recent professional achievement that includes the ultimate accolade in management. I know she will use her much enhanced managerial skills to facilitate the further growth of public officers in the Town and Country Planning Department and Government as a whole," Mrs. Adams told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

The permanent secretary added, “Achievements such as Mrs. Titley-Smith’s should be celebrated as they are in line with Government’s vision to build a productive nation through continued training and development.”

Both of Mrs. Titley-Smith’s designations as Chartered Manager and Fellow allow her to use the initials CMgr FCMI after her name.

Mrs. Titley-Smith has served as Acting Chief Planner in the Town and Country Planning Department since May 1, 2009 and Chief Planner since March 1, 2010.

According to its Code of Practice for Professional Managers, the Chartered Management Institute is the chartered professional body dedicated to supporting individual managers and organisations to achieve success through higher standards in management and leadership.
