BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force's Welfare Association, this morning (Sept. 5) made a healthy donation to the Police Training School (PTS) in an effort to assist with the upgrade of the PTS.

The donation took place at the PTS in the form of a cheque which will be used to purchase a number of chairs.

The handing over was done by the President of the Police Welfare Association, Mark Handley and accepted by Chief Instructor of the PTS, Eldrin Dickenson. The cheque is expected to cover the cost of at least eight chairs.

Handley said that the cheque is to enable the training school to provide more chairs for the school for training purposes as well as for facilitating persons who go there to do written exams for their driver’s license.

He said that the Welfare Association has been dormant for a few years and as their first step towards reemerging, they saw the need and decided to step up and assist the PTS.

"We also decided to donate this so that persons who come to the PTS for seminars or conferences, would be much more comfortable," he said.

Dickenson, while thanking the Welfare Association for their generous donation, said that the chairs would not only be beneficial to the PTS but  to other persons who do business there.

"On behalf of the Commander of the Police Training School staff, we would like to thank the Welfare Association for generously handing over this cheque. This will help all of us, not only the Training School, but persons attending meetings here," he said.

The Police Welfare Association is an internal division of the Police Force and comprises of a number of branches. Its purpose is to provide assistance when necessary to the members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) as well as the Force's subsidiaries.
