Charlestown Nevis (February 19, 2004) As the Oualie Beach Hotel & Restaurant celebrates its 24th year of service to the island of Nevis; the management took time out to acknowledge and show appreciation to a number of employees for their dedication to the institution.
The brief ceremony, which was held on Wednesday 18 at the beach front of the hotel, saw some of the awardees receiving their gift in the form of a promotion, monetary prizes, dinner for two and certificates.
Co-Managing Director, Mr. John Yearwood, in his brief remarks described the event and the as interesting. He noted that each employee worked in different areas of the hotel to get an idea as to what each area was all about, and that they found out that each other’s area was very interesting.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the employee of the year, which ranges as employee No. 1, 2 and 3. Ms Symelita Jeffers received Employee of the Year No 3, Ms Marcella Isles, Employee of the Year No 2 and Ms Yvonne Herbert, Employee of the Year No 1.
Ms Herbert had provided ten years of service to the institution and as part of her prize she received a weekend for two at the Marriott’s Hotel in St. Kitts. Mr. Mervin Saunders, one of the chefs, was presented with a surprise monetary gift for going the extra mile for his co-worker while he recuperates from the fire disaster.
The hotel also held a benefit dinner, as part of a fund raising drive for the chef, who had lost his home in a fire earlier this year. He also received severe burns to his body and is still recuperating from the disaster. Mr. Vaden Jones, General Manager of the hotel chaired the ceremony while Mrs. Faith Bertie gave the vote of thanks. |
