BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - AFTER approximately three weeks on the run, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) have finally caught up with escaped prisoner Alistair ‘Jabal’ Isaac.

The Neverson Street, Newtown resident had escaped from custody on August 16 while under guard at the JNF Hospital and was caught last evening (Sept. 6).

A press release issued by the Police Press and Public Relations Office stated that members of the S.S.U assisted by Basseterre Beat and Patrol Officers launched an intense island-wide search after Isaac was spotted in the St. Johnston's Village and New Town areas.

"Isaac was observed in the area of West Independence Square Street and was quickly surrounded by officers who through a search incidental to arrest, recovered a firearm and ammunition on his person. The investigation into how Isaac was permitted to escape while in the custody of the HMP Officers is still ongoing," the release said.

The 31-year-old former Cotton Ground, Nevis resident was remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison for armed robbery which he allegedly committed on Thursday, July 26, 2012.

According to information reaching this publication, on the day in question, an officer of Her Majesty’s Prison had escorted Isaac to the hospital where he was expected to have some part of his anatomy x-rayed.

However, while there, Isaac escaped and the police were alerted.

Prison Superintendent Franklin Dorset and Commissioner of Police C. G. Walwyn wishes to thank the general public for their support in reporting the movements of the captured prisoner.

Isaac is now facing additional charges for the escape and possession of the firearm and ammunition.
