    Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 07th, 2012 (SKNIS): “The Challenge of Fostering Economic Growth given the Conditions in the Global and Domestic Economy” is the theme under which this year’s St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Consultation on the Economy will be held.
     
    As such, Tuesday, September 11 at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas will deliver the Feature Address during a brief opening ceremony.  Remarks will also be given by President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce David Lake.
     
    The theme will then be addressed by means of the topics: Finding the Right Policy Mix between Austerity and Growth, The Role of the Public Sector Investment Programme, The Role of Diversification of the Economy in Facilitating Growth and The Impact of Debt Restructuring and the IMF Programme.
     
    Following each presentation, the floor will be opened for discussion among invited participants who represent key personnel and sectors of the economy such as Federal Ministers of Government, government ministries and advisors and at least 50 members of the private sector.  Ambassadors, OECS Financial Secretaries, bank personnel, high school students and Nevis Island Administration Ministry of Finance personnel have also been invited.
     
    Issues raised during the St. Kitts and Nevis National Consultation on the Economy are often featured in the Annual National Budget Address and Debate.
