Kim Collins captures three silvers in post-Olympic Season 2012

Kim Collins capturing Silver in Reiti, Italy – Sept 2012
By: Lorna Callender, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – STARTING from August 26 in his post-Olympic Season, Kim Collins has maintained a world class standard in all six Meets in which he participated. In a really punishing schedule he has finished no lower than fourth in any meet on his recent World Challenge IAAF European tour.

His three silver medals came in Zagreb, Croatia (10.14), in Berlin, Germany (10.07) and in Reiti, Italy just yesterday, Sept 9, at 10.09 secs.

Surprisingly, his season’s best of 10.01 came in Zurich on August 30 when he placed fourth behind Yohan Blake (Jam), Nesta Carter (Jam) and Ryan Bailey (USA) all finishing below 10 secs.

In the race at Brussels in which Usain Bolt participated, Collins also came fourth with a time of 10.03 coming behind Bolt (9.86), Carter (9.96), Bailey-Cole (9.97)

When it is considered that Collins is racing with a new generation of athletes most or all of whom are at least a decade younger than he is, it is nothing short of amazing that he has maintained and at times surpassed his time  of 10.07 when he won the World Championships in France in 2003.
