Neon lights shine on Canadian-based Kittitian Rapper

(L-R) S.I.N.cere and Royal-T of KBC

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HARD WORK, dedication and commitment are just some of the ingredients that make a successful group; another most important factor is talent and ‘Knights Bridge Council’ (KBC) based in Canada is all of that and more.

KBC has been on their rap grind 'for a minute' and has no plans of stopping anytime soon. They have taken their time to lay the foundation and perfect their craft and now they are ready to blast off into higher heights.

One of the two-member rap group is St. Kitts’ very own Tissan Brookes of Camps who migrated to Canada in 2000.

Almost immediately after settling in to his new neighborhood, music would become one of the most important factors in his life.

Brookes told SKNVibes that most of the younger crowd in his area used to get together in the building staircases or around the basketball court where they would hangout and began ‘free styling’.

“This eventually started to rub off on me and lead to me realizing that I have a talent to put words together to make them sound good and flow to the melody of a beat which I began doing,” he said.

In 2001, he and his friend Sajae Kildare who goes by the name ‘S.I.N.cere’ formed KBC.

Brookes also adapted the moniker ‘Royal –T’.

“We decided to form the group KBC after realizing we got a talent that can take us way further than the building staircases. Over the next few years we made good music but still were not ready to go 100%; music was still a free time hobby. We needed some convincing and that convincing worked.

He said over the years friends, family and supporters began to encourage them and gave them confidence to take their music further.

They released several videos, ‘What’s Poppin’ featuring C.Ridla also of Canada, which was followed by ‘Sick As Us’ and ‘So Crazy’.

Finally in 2012, they decided to release a mixtape titled ‘Outta Da Blue’ with features other Canadian artistes including KinSmuv, Eliiot Scars, P.O.M.S and Ceaza Leon.

“This mixtape was released the first week of August and was a huge success. We also released three more music videos for three songs from the mixtape which were ‘Intro’, ‘Paper On My Mind’, and ‘Bars’ featuring Ceaza Leon.

“We’re in the process of filming and releasing a music video called ‘Victory’ which features Kinsmuv and Eliot Scars,” he said.

From the great reviews of their mixtape, the group is now working on an original album.

“In the near future we would hope to get our music heard by some of the bigger music companies or artistes that have had a successful career. We’re hoping to get signed to a major record deal.”

For now they guys will continue to promote the group and perform. Networking and getting their music out there as much as possible is also key for them.
