Yanik Martin
By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IF YOU THINK that Sound Official was done with because you have not been hearing much coming from them, Surprise!

The duo is back and working up amazing music to satisfy their loyal supporters.

One member of the dynamic duo, Yanik Martin, i.s currently pursuing studies in New York in Audio Engineering and while there he is also releasing music.

His most recent release is ‘Peek-a-Boo (I Surprised You)’ for which he also shot a music video.

“The music, the lyrics, the mixing and mastering and the entire composition of my newest single entitled ‘Peek a Boo (I Surprised You')’ was produced by myself. However, Sound Official includes my twin brother Quinn as well and therefore, it is imperative that he is included equally in everything that I do musically.

“I also did 100% of the video editing and posting,” he said.

Martin said the video has been receiving a tremendous level of positive support and feedback and has gained the interest of a number of potential sponsors in New York.

“It definitely has set the ball rolling in its first week of release and has put me on the straight path for publishing more videos and updates in literally a matter of weeks.”

Martin said his current studies would definitely benefit him and his twin brother Quinn Martin, the other member in Sound Official’s career, in the long run.

“I left St.Kitts to pursue studies in Audio Engineering in New York City to help to launch my and my brother's career in sound engineering and music production. I have the task of setting the ball rolling, in the physical absence of my brother,” he said.

Not just brothers but twins, they first broke out into the music scene in St. Kitts back in 2004, under the name Undaground.

With their smooth-flowing tight lyrics and their catch phrase ‘I’m Nice’, the duo quickly rose to fame and also performed on one of the most prestigious music concerts in St. Kitts, the St. Kitts Music Festival.

They released two albums as Da Undaground and the more recent of the two was ‘The Operation’ in 2005.

Then they went quiet but with good reasons.

“After that, we took a break from putting music out, in order to focus on the development of audio engineering techniques, as well as to focus on our jobs as we were both employed as bankers upon leaving college.

“Nevertheless, we remained musically active behind the scenes, and were able to put together a large library of unreleased beats and songs throughout that period,” Martin said.

But they are back and are ready to produce and release music for their patient fans.

“I understand that the fans have been waiting for new music for a very long time and at this time, I am prepared to satisfy that demand. They can rest assured that I'll be giving them a large variety of songs every month beginning from this month.

“They can also look out for songs from Sound Official in the near future as well, as I'm quite sure that my brother Quinn and I would be able to make songs together quite soon.”
