BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CLOSE to two months ago Anthea Sage lost her home by fire and as she works desperately hard to pick up the pieces of her life, she is thanking those who have helped her thus far and is pleading with others to lend assistance.
The Lower Fiennes Avenue home that Sage shared with three of her nine children and her significant other caught fire on the morning of July 19, 2012 and, although a team from the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services Department worked tirelessly to save the building, it was totally destroyed along with most of its contents.
Sage made an appeal via this medium for assistance and she has reported that a number of institutions and individuals including a church, the Marriott (her place of employment) and relatives have provided her with some assistance, for which she is eternally grateful.
She – along with the three children - currently resides with her aunt at Upper Shaw Avenue and she admits that it continues to be an uphill struggle.
In a recent interview, Sage explained that she is still in desperate need of assistance and, as such, is again appealing to civic-minded entities and individuals to heed her cries.
“I still need help and I am appealing to the public to assist me in whatever way they can. I need to find a place to rent and I am in need of appliances, clothing and other necessities. I would gratefully accept whatever assistance can be provided…”
