Kittitian woman reigns supreme, both in Canada & North America

Carol Hanley
By: Judith A. Mallard, Press Release

SEPTEMBER 18th, 2012  --  In 2012, Carol Hanley set out to achieve her first place ranking in the Canadian Women’s Middleweight competitive bodybuilding forum. By September 2nd, 2012, she not only achieved first place ranking in Canada, but also went on to take first place in North America in two different classes.

Both in her Middleweight and Masters class. What a year it has been for this Canadian “Iron Princess” who proudly embraces both her hometown of Basseterre St. Kitts, and Mississauga, Ontario as her true places of growth.

Carol Hanley grew up in a disciplined environment with a grandfather who was Chief of Police and a devoted grandmother. She attended a private grade school in St Kitts before finishing her studies in Montreal Quebec. After first pursuing post-secondary studies in the areas of medicine, she found herself drawn to technology and finished her degree in Computer Science; and is currently Executive Managing Director of a Software Development firm.

Her love and interest in bodybuilding started at a very young age reading magazines and producing sketches of muscle bound comic book heroes. She remembers seeing her first bodybuilding picture of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his signature side chest poses.

She continued to follow the sport as a fan and dream from the sidelines until finally following her passion and stepping on stage in 2009. Carol was no stranger to sports as she was an avid athlete; track and field, volleyball, basketball and tennis.

The decision to compete came after talking to a now fellow competitor who took the time to encourage her to pursue her dreams. She continues to compete as a National Level Athlete and has the same goal as most of becoming an IFBB Pro Athlete.

Carol also wants to send out a very proud and loving hello to her family, Hyacinth Manning, Theresa Manning, and Sylvia Manning-Walters, currently residing in St. Kitts.
