Three women among seven charged for breaking the law

    One fined, another jailed for drugs possession

     

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE women are among seven individuals charged by police on St. Kitts and also on Nevis for offences ranging from escaping lawful custody to carrying abroad an offensive weapon, while one man was jailed and another fined for drugs possession.

     

    A release from the Police Public Relations Office states that Kimisha Ward and Kishauna Rawlins, both of Water Works, Cayon, were charged with escaping lawful custody and obstruction respectively.

     

    Both offences were allegedly committed at Frigate Bay on Monday, September 10, 2012.

     

    It also states that Ditroy Solomon of St. Paul’s Village was charged with Carrying abroad an offensive weapon, allegedly committed on Friday (Sept. 14); while Yanick Morris of Cayon was charged with obstruction, battery on police, carrying abroad an offensive weapon and armed with an offensive weapon, allegedly committed on Saturday (Sept. 15).

     

    Three individuals are currently facing charges for traffic offences they allegedly committed.

     

    Peter Dickenson of Durant Avenue, Basseterre was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sunday (Sept. 16), while on Nevis, Richard Liburd of Brown Hill and Ordessa Moore of Low Street were charged with driving without insurance on Friday (Sept. 14) and Sunday (Sept. 16) respectively.

     

    And at the Sandy Point Magistrate’s Court, two men appeared before the magistrate and they were both convicted on drugs possession. However, while one has to serve time at Her Majesty’s Prison, the other one has to pay a fine.

     

    Cleon Doylin of Saddlers Village was convicted for the offences of obstruction under the Drug Act, possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply; offences which he committed on Monday, April 2, 2012.

     

    Doylin was sentenced to three months imprisonment for possession with intent to supply, but there was no further penalty for the other offences.

     

    Bishem Daniel of St. Paul’s Village was convicted for possession of cannabis and possession with intent to supply which were committed on the said day as Doylin.

     

    He was fined EC$2 000 for possession with intent to supply, which is to be paid by October 14, 2012 or serve one month imprisonment, but no further penalty was given for the other offence.
