Although we are aware of todays reports in some of the press that Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chris Gayle have terminated their personal endorsement contracts with us, we are not in receipt of any communication to that effect from their attorney and are working to separate fact from rumor.
However, as our mission has been and continues to be to enable Cricket in the West Indies to thrive, and to help set the stage for a successful World Cup 2007, we are in support of todays proposal by the WICB for a further contractual review by Caricom Justice Adrian Saunders.
We remain confident that upon his ruling and with the cooperation of all involved parties, a solution can be reached that will:
" allow the West Indies to field the best possible team,
" reaffirm the rights of players to have personal endorsement contracts, and
" provide for the protection of the investment of team and player sponsors.
We reiterate our continuing commitment and desire to work with all interested parties in good faith to reach an agreement in the best interests of the fans, players and sponsors of cricket in the West Indies.
