    BRADES, Montserrat, September 19th, 2012 – The Montserrat Customs and Revenue Service (MCRS) announced today the approval by the Legislative Assembly of a 5% Customs Processing Fee on designated items being imported.

     

    Starting October 1 the Processing Fee will come into force. This fee will apply to importations which are exempted from payment of duty and consumption tax, explained Director General of MCRS Frank Ferguson. “However, in general terms the fee will not be charged on items imported for Government purposes and for use by organizations such as charitable institutions.”

     

    The introduction of this new processing fee comes into effect at the same time the amended Customs Tariffs will be on October 1. The new tariffs can be viewed online at www.customs.gov.ms and gov.ms.
