Police mum on robbery with violence in Nevis

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – TODAY (Sept. 20) marks the fourth day since a young man on Nevis was robbed and burnt and no statement in the form of a press release has yet emanated from the police.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that in the wee hours of Monday (Sept. 17), three masked men had accosted a young man at gunpoint in Gingerland, robbed him of an undisclosed sum of money and burnt him in the process.

Unconfirmed reports state that the bandits, after not getting what they must have wanted from the young man, tied him up and doused him with boiling water.

This publication learnt that the boiling water was poured in the region of his scrotum and also on his legs.

Following his ordeal, the young man was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where this media house was reliably informed that he is currently warded.

Unconfirmed reports also state that the bandits are from St. Kitts.

When contacted, the Police Press and Public Information Officer, Inspector Lyndon David, confirmed that the incident did occur but he did not provide details, other than to say “ police are investigating and a release will be sent out” when he is in receipt of more information.

SKNVibes however learnt that on Monday afternoon (Sept. 17), a squad of officers from the Basseterre Police Station had apprehended an individual who is said to be assisting them with their investigations into the matter.
