BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE much anticipated Miss East Pearl Cultural Pageant originally scheduled to take place tonight (Sept. 21) as part of the Newtown Community Festival has been postponed.
This postponement, according to Event Coordinator Geoffrey Hanley, is due to the sudden illness of one of the contestants.
The pageant, which is being held under the theme "Jungle Fantasy", will therefore be held on Saturday, September 29 at the same venue, the Fish Pot Village (Newtown Playing Field) at 8:00 p.m., where five beauties will take to the stage in the hope of capturing the Miss Newtown 2012 crown.
The lovely ladies - Kevina Buchanan, Jolonda Jones, Shakeda Gerald, Sami-Qua Cannonier, Tawanna Collins - will be entertaining attendees in five segments - Fanfare, Ambassadorial Wear which would include the introductory speech, Community Cultural Wear, Talent, and Evening Wear.
The show also promises to have a packed sideshow with music by the 'sweetest band in the world', the Small Axe Band. Tickets are still $20.
However, the other activities planned for the Newtown Community Festival will take place as planned.
The Street Parade and Night Fair will take place tomorrow (Sept. 22), and on Sunday (Sept. 23) the LIME Aquatics and Street Sports & Family Picnic will be held at that Newtown Boulevard.
