BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE woman whose lifeless body was found floating on the seashore near the War Memorial, at the Irish Town Bay, has been identified as 52-year-old Cheryl Browne of Upper Fiennes Avenue but who was originally from Sandy Point.

According to information from the Police Press and Information Office, the woman was found on Saturday, September 22, at about 6:05 a.m.

The woman appears to have drowned but an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Browne was said to be a patient at the Joseph N. France Hospital’s Psychiatric Ward but had left the premises against medical advice on Friday evening.

However, one person said they saw her walking through the streets of Basseterre during the day and the police press release stated that they were searching for Browne after she left the hospital.

The search was said to be an extensive overnight search which sadly ended when her body was recovered by police.

This media house also learnt that the deceased used to braid tourists’ hair at Port Zante.
