P.C. Lauston Percival, founder and President of Operation Future, has been asked to address CARICOM’s “National Consultation on Youth, Crime and Violence

    BASSETERRE ST. Kitts, September 25th, 2012  -- Operation Future is pleased to announce that P.C. Lauston Percival, founder and President of Operation Future, has been asked to address CARICOM’s “National Consultation on Youth, Crime and Violence: Partnering for Crime Prevention and Social Development” September 25th and 26th in the Bahamas.

     

    P.C. Percival is asked to do a presentation highlighting the work of Operation Future in the area of prevention education targeting youths at risk for violent youth gangs and crime.  CARICOM recognizes Operation Future as a best practice and wishes to share this practice with people of the Bahamas. 

     

    P.C. Percival intends to discuss Operation Future’s work in the schools and community in the Federation sharing current presentations such as “Use your Brains: Stay Away from Gangs”, intervention programs such as “Back Against the Wall”, the public service messages created by Operation Future in partnership with Her Majesty’s Prison and future plans such as Operation Future’s Creative Youth Academy which we hope to have launched in early November. 

     

    Operation Future is pleased to see the continued international interest in the work done by Operation Future here in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, and is certainly pleased to promote a positive image of St Kitts and Nevis in other nations as taking a proactive and creative approach to the issues of youth, crime and violence. 

     

    In the last 18 months members of Operation Future have been asked to speak and share it’s programs in several other nations including Antigua, St Lucia & Guyana and now the Bahamas at the request of CARICOM, and in Canada at the request of the University of Winnipeg’s, Department of Criminal Justice. 

     

    P.C. Percival states that Operation Future’s members are committed to continue to use innovative techniques and a holistic approach to achieving our motto of “Greater Achievement for Every Child”

     

    Recently, Operation Future sponsored a workshop that resulted in the certification of over 50 residents of the Federation of St Kitts & Nevis to facilitate a 10 week anger management program utilized by the John Howard Society of Toronto, Canada. 

     

    This anger management program has been built into Operation Future’s Back Against the Wall Secondary School intervention program extending the program two 10 weeks and scheduled to be launched in partnership with the Counseling Department of Basseterre Secondary School this month.
