ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, September 24th, 2012  – In an effort to improve service delivery, the Labour Department’s Tortola and Virgin Gorda branches are coming together to undergo special training on Thursday, September 27. During this time, both branches will be closed up until 1p.m. when regular office hours will resume.

The training will be facilitated by Chief Records Officer, Christopher Varlack and Deputy Chief Training Officer Hazel Benjamin along with other senior public officers within the Labour Department.

It will focus on aspects of the 2010 Labour Code, effective communication, quality customer service, professionalism, records management and report writing.

Acting Labour Commissioner, Mrs. Janice Rymer told the Department of Information and Public Relations, “Although this is a short training, we recognize the need to have a unified approach to the kind of service we give to the public. This meeting is important, because quality service is important. Keeping our public servants updated on procedures and strategies will only help us to maintain the standard of a ‘service of excellence’.”

The Government of the Virgin Islands has recognized the need for improved customer service across all industries and as a national priority aims to create and establish the best practices and a well trained staff to improve performance.

The department regrets any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
