Chad Williams charged with Hanley’s Road burglary

BURGLARY ACCUSED: Chad Williams
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have stated that Chad Williams of Central Street, Basseterre was recently charged for the offence of burglary.

Apart from his name, address and that the offence was committed on Monday, September 17, 2012 “at Hanleys Estate”, there was no additional information in the one and a half-lined press release on Williams.

However, an investigation conducted by this publication revealed that Williams is allegedly one of three men suspected of burglarising a Hanley’s Road, Gingerland, Nevis-home where a young man was held at gunpoint, robbed of an undisclosed sum of money and burnt in the process.

The investigation also revealed that the young man, who goes by the alias of ‘Bad’, was housekeeping for a family that was holidaying overseas.

SKNVibes learnt that the family had returned to Nevis and during the wee hours of Monday (Sept. 17), three masked men had entered the home and demanded US currency from the occupants.

They failed in their bid to acquire what they wanted and subsequently tied up the young man, boiled some water and poured it in the region of his scrotum and also on his legs.

Following his ordeal, the young man was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where he underwent treatment for his injuries and was recently discharged.

Reports had stated that the bandits are from St. Kitts and this publication learnt that on the afternoon following the incident, a squad of officers from the Basseterre Police Station had apprehended one man who was said to be assisting them with their investigations into the matter.

One individual, on condition of anonymity, told this media house that they are also privy to police press releases and have found them to be lacking adequate information.

“As a national of this Federation, and like all law-abiding citizens, I would like to know what is happening in my country, especially where crime is concerned. The police want us to assist them in crime fighting, but how can we effectively do that when they only provide us with minimum information? The least they can do is give the public enough for them to be aware of who and what to look out for, but not enough to hinder their investigations.”

Meanwhile, the police also informed that Jevon Maynard of Manchester Avenue was charged with malicious damage, which was committed on Thursday (Sept. 20). And a juvenile was charged for carrying abroad an offensive weapon; an offence he allegedly committed on Monday (Sept. 17).
