BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OBVIOUSLY not pleased with the way his trial was conducted, Bentley ‘Danny’ Huggins reportedly broke out in rage the day following his conviction of murder and referred to the trial as a “Willie Lynch trial”.

Huggins was unanimously convicted of stabbing his wife – 35-year-old Desirie Thomas - to death on December 23, 2011 at their Elliston House, Wellington Street home. The conviction came down at the Old Bailey on September 19 and, according to http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk, he appeared before the court on the following day.

During that appearance the 42-year-old was asked by presiding judge Anthony Morris if he would have preferred to have representation during the sentencing trial and he capitalised on the opportunity to express his view that his trial was unfair.

“From the beginning of this trial I was never going to get a fair trial. The manner in which the police have conducted their investigation - they have strong-handed, intimidated and invented witnesses.”

“You've conducted this trial in a most utterly and absolutely despicable way,” the publication quotes him as saying.

The publication noted that even after Judge Morris indicated that he would postpone sentencing so that a pre-sentence and psychiatric reports could be compiled, Huggins retorted, “Your honour, it will not happen. You might as well sentence me today. It would not happen. Period."

Huggins further addressed the judge saying, “You’ve brought people speaking cock-a-doo crap about me”. This was said after he referred to his trial as a “Willie Lynch trial”.

This publication understands that Huggins is scheduled to appear before the court on October 18, 2012 and faces the possibility of serving a life sentence.
