BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INFORMATION reaching SKNVibes indicates that the vehicle of former Deputy Premier of Nevis and Deputy Leader of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) Hensley Daniel was engulfed in flames during the wee hours of this morning (Sept 29) while parked in his yard.

At press time, information remained sketchy; this publication however understands that Daniel was attending a NRP political meeting at Cotton Ground which had concluded at about 11:40. And sometime after, he left the meeting in his vehicle and journeyed to his Prospect Terrace home where he parked it in his yard.

He reportedly entered his home and shortly thereafter received a call from one of the neighbours indicating that his vehicle, PA4652, was on fire. The incident is said to have occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.

Other unconfirmed reports suggest that the sound of an explosion is what may have alerted the neighbour of what was happening and that individual may have attempted to douse the blaze but it proved too big a task. The authorities – fire and police officers – were called in to handle the situation.

SKNVibes contacted the Head of Nevis Division – Assistant Commissioner of Police Robert Liburd – who said questions should be forwarded to the Police Force’s Public Relations Officer, Inspector Lyndon David.

When contacted just minutes before 9:00 a.m., David indicated that “that has not reached me as yet so I can’t comment. I’ll have to check it out”.

Attempts were made to contact Premier of Nevis and Political Leader of the NRP Joseph W. Parry and Daniel but all attempts proved unsuccessful.

Whether or not this explosion and fire resulted from an electrical fault or whether arson is suspected, is yet unknown but further information would be provided via this publication as it becomes available.

SKNVibes understands that no one sustained any physical injury as a result of the incident.
