Traffic Court convictions

~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EFFORTS by the Traffic Department to sensitise the public are still seemingly being unheeded as a number of persons believed to have run afoul of the nation’s traffic laws were brought before the court, convicted and sentenced.
Tabernacle resident Latoya Mills appeared before the District “A” Magistrate Court on Thursday last on charges of driving without a driver’s licence and driving without insurance. She was convicted on both counts. On the first count, she was fined $500 to be paid within 24 hours while and on the second, she was fined $1 000 to be paid within the same period or face a one-month custodial sentence.
Malone Avenue resident Deshea Prentice was fined a total of $1 000 after convicted for driving without insurance and careless driving. Prentice was fined $800 on the first charge, which is to be paid within two months or two months imprisonment, while, on the second charge, she was fined $200 to be paid within two months or serve 14 days at Her Majesty’s Prison.
As further punishment, Prentice was also disqualified for a 12-month period.
For driving without insurance, Kristin Flemming of West Farm was ordered to fork over $600 forthwith.
Andy Martin of St. Peters has 14 days to pay a $500 fine which was passed down to him as punishment for careless driving.
For the offence of careless driving, Elroy Webbe of Conaree was convicted and fined $200 to be paid within two days or serve two weeks imprisonment.
Keys Village resident Alfred Stevens and Kimo Liburd of New Road were both taken before the court on careless driving charges. On conviction, Stevens was fined $200 to be paid within 24 hours or serve one week imprisonment while Liburd was fined $200 which was to be paid forthwith.
Bird Rock resident Scott Moller was fined $300 forthwith for careless driving.
Camps Villager Dwight Steward was fined $100 to be paid within 24 hours for failing to produce a driver’s licence.
Another Camps Villager, Julian Weinhemar, was taken before the court for failing to comply with traffic signs and was fined $100 forthwith.
