BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 55-year-old man was yesterday (Oct. 1) involved in a traffic accident while walking on the sidewalk along the Newtown Bay Road in the vicinity of St. Kitts Scooter Rentals.
Injured is Elroy Gibbons of La Guerite, who was taken to the JNF Hospital by ambulance where he was treated and kept for observation.
According to a police press release, the accident involved motorcar PA8807 driven by Natasha Doche of St. Christopher Club, Frigate Bay and Motorcar PA2768 driven by Alva Thompson of Cabbage Tree, Cayon.
The release noted that investigations revealed that PA2768 was travelling towards Basseterre when PA 8807 moved from its parked position on the mountainside of the road and was heading in the same direction as PA 2768.
This action resulted in a collision of the two vehicles, which caused PA2768 to run off the road “on the seaside and collided with a pedestrian, Elroy Gibbons of La Guerite who was walking on the sidewalk”.
The incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. and investigations are ongoing.
