Family Snackette relocates, spices up menu

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PATRONS of the Family Snackette will no longer have to travel to the farther side of Central Basseterre to purchase their meals as the popular eatery has been relocated to a more spacious and accessible spot.

Yesterday was the snackette’s first day at its new location in the TDC Plaza, situated in the center of the city’s main thoroughfare - Fort Street.

Charlotte St. Juste, owner/manager of the business spoke to SKNVibes nearing the end of the eatery’s first day at its new home and she gave insight into why the move was necessary.

“I have been looking for a place where I could attract tourists so I felt like Fort Street would be an ideal place where I can attract more of the customers in the working area and also tourists who visit the island.  I believe they more travel on Fort Street.

At the old location, tourists would pass but they never really came into the restaurant. I think that now we have moved and now that we are more accessible, they will visit the place.”

St. Juste says she sees the move as a lucrative venture and noted that another among the list of reasons for making the move is the comfort of the customers.

She explained that she believes if the customer is happy and comfortable at the restaurant, they would be more willing to return.

“I see this move as being more rewarding and much better for business. I think the customers especially like the fact that there is a balcony on which they can sit and enjoy their breakfast or lunch while overlooking the city.

Where we were it was also a bit crowded and this setting is more spacious. As long as the customers are happy, the more they would come back and patronize.”

She added, “The response thus far has been good. My regular breakfast and lunch customers were here but I also saw some new faces. We were crowded for 12:00 p.m. and most of them said they liked the place. They didn’t complain so I believe they liked what they saw.”

The location change, according to the owner, has been supplemented with changes and additions to the menu.

“Instead of making chicken soup, we would make fish soup or vegetable soup. We have now incorporated more pastries into the menu and we have decided to have School Lunch Specials where parents would pay $50 at the beginning of the week and the child would come in for the rest of the week and get lunch.”   ~~Adz:Right~~

Another innovation St. Juste spoke of is the implementation of a ‘Frequent Buyer Card’ which customers would be issued and after one purchases 20 lunches, a free lunch would be given.

The entrepreneur told SKNVibes that she expects the decision to move to impact positively on the business and also her customers.
