    Basseterre High School continues to excel!
    Principal commends students, staff...

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – STUDENTS and staff members of Basseterre High School came in for high praise when the institution’s Principal ,applauded them for their hard work, commitment and sacrifice made over the last academic year.

     

    This commendation was made on two different occasions - during a general assembly and a staff meeting on Monday, August 1 and Thursday, August 4 respectively.

     

    With an average of 81.36 percent, Basseterre High School has the distinction of obtaining the highest overall pass rate in St. Kitts for the 2008 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations (CSEC).

    of distinctions yielding a record 185, the best number over the period 2005-2008. 

    Having one of the highest entries in the Federation, the school gained 100 percent in 10 subject areas including Principles of Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, EDPM, French, Spanish, Human and Social Biology, Home Management, Biology and Agricultural Science, and nine subjects with at least 80 percent and above passes. 

    In her complimentary address, the Principal focussed on the school’s excellence, which manifested not only through academics but also through sporting activities during the last academic year. 

    She highlighted the success in the Inter-school Track and Field Championship, the Second Division National Football League and National Bank Under-15 Netball League.

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~ “I am well elated because we did extremely well and got the best results in St. Kitts. I want the teachers to know that they are well appreciated and that their close work with parents and students caused us to excel.

     

    “We are right on target to produce great results again and we will better what we did last school year. We also intend to retain inter-school championship...our good athletic programmes should allow us to do so.”

    She encouraged her staff to maintain the quality of education that is offered at the school, noting Basseterre High is not just about preparing students to survive economically but, more so, preparing them for citizenship.

     

    Principal Urlene Bloice-Roberts indicated that the institution is working on strategies to ensure that it maintains its position for next year’s CSEC examinations, as it remains committed to the pursuit of excellence.
