                                        Motor Vehicle Policy to be the focus of next public eye

    ~~Adz:Left~~ Roadtown, Tortola- The Department of Information and Public Relations will host a live Public Eye television programme on the recently approved Motor Vehicle Policy on Thursday, September 11 on HLSCC Channel 52.

     

    The panellists will be Acting Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works Mrs. Myrna Ferdinand, Chief Licensing Officer Ms. Lorna Christopher and Deputy Chief Licensing Officer Mr. Roy Hill.  Chief Information Officer Mrs. Geraldine Ritter Freeman will moderate the programme.

     

    The Public Eye programme has been organised as part of Government’s public education efforts to inform persons in especially the transportation industry and the general public about the aspects of the policy that was approved.

     

    As a result of the new policy, a new category of plates referred to as Livery will be introduced, under which vehicles used in services for hire, will be registered.  Such vehicles will include tours, shuttles, buses and limousines.  The proposed plates will bear the Livery insignia, along with the designated letter for the particular class, such as: “T” for tours, “S” for shuttles, “B” for buses and “L” for limousines.

     

    The public is encouraged to tune in to Public Eye on Thursday, September 11 to learn more about the Motor Vehicle Policy and participate in the discussions by telephoning 852-7111 during the designated times.

     

    The new Motor Vehicle Policy is part of Government’s efforts to provide safe, efficient and affordable transportation and infrastructural services to enhance community life and economic growth within the Territory.
