Sugar Creole Basketball Festival Postponed

By: SKABA, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, October 11th 2012 - Just 2 days after finalizing and announcing the new St.Kitts-Nevis National Team and the travelling contingent for the 2nd Annual Sugar Creole Basketball Festival in Dominica the SKABA has been informed that the Basketball weekend tournament has been postponed.

The Domnica Amateur Basketball Association through President Mickey Joseph indicated to the local association that Due to rain and inclement weather they have been forced to postpone the tournament until further notice. The National Team has therefore had to suspend travel plans to Dominica this weekend.

It is apparent that the issue of an indoor facility and the always prevailing weather conditions plagues Dominica as it does here in St.Kitts-Nevis  .  President Joseph has issued a statement indicating that the tournament will now be held in two parts with Martinique playing Dominica next weekend and St.Kitts-Nevis vs Dominica on November 9th.

The Sugar Creole Basketball Festival was first held in St.Kitts last year with the Dominican National Team  along with the Nevis Island Team as well as the SKABA All Stars.  This years tournament is expected to feature the national teams of Dominica, St.Kitts-Nevis and Martinique.

In light of the postponement the local SKABA Super 8 League will resume this weekend at Basketball City on Saturday and Sunday. Go to the SKABA Facebook page for  fixture. http://www.facebook.com/SKABA.Basketball
