BVI Post New Services and products promoted on World Post Day

    ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, October 10th, 2012  –  In delivering on its mandate ‘Bringing the World to You,’ the BVI Post celebrated World Post Day with staff members on hand to welcome customers who visited the BVI Post on October 9, educating and informing them of services offered.

    Under the theme, “A new strategy for a new world”, BVI Post joined with other countries across the world and participated in this annual celebration introducing and promoting new postal products and services.

     

    Speaking to the Department of Information and Public Relations, Retail and Marketing Manager, Ms Debra James said that the purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries. “The celebration is aimed at generating a broader awareness of the Post’s role and the services offered.”

     

    She continued that, “The BVI Post is using World Post Day to promote services such as the new internet shopping service EZ Shopper, in addition to E Zone an internet shopping delivery service, which enables customers to make purchases via the internet delivered air express or ocean service for larger shipments.

     

    Ms. James explained that the intention of the service is to accommodate those customers who may not have a credit card, for those online stores that do not accept international credit cards and also to avoid vendor issues with shipping to commercial addresses.

     

    “This new service shows BVI Post’s commitment to stay one step ahead of its competitors in better addressing our customers’ needs. It truly is an excellent service which I encourage our present and potential customers to use,” Ms. James added.

     

    Other services and postal products on display included Amerijet which is an air cargo transportation company that offers a wide array of services and provides numerous destinations to which mail can be conveyed and a philatelic and new stamps exhibition that stamp collectors can purchase sets and first day covers at the Philatelic Bureau, located within the BVI Post in Road Town, the Post Shop at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, Valley, Virgin Gorda BVI Post and at the various BVI Posts branches.

     

    Special souvenirs such as water bottles, bags, flashlights, key rings, and stationary items were among the display.

     

    World Post Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union's establishment and is annually held on October 9. The union is aimed at creating and maintaining a structure for the free flow of international mail around the world.

     

    The purpose of World Post Day is to create awareness of the role of the postal sector in people’s and businesses’ everyday lives and its contribution to the social and economic development of countries.
