CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE swift hammer of justice came down today with a man from Nevis being sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for gun-related offences.
Adrian Skeete of Taylors Pasture appeared before the District “C” Magistrate’s Court on one charge each of “possession of a fire arm” and “possession of ammunition”.
SKNVibes understands that at about 7:55 last evening [Sept. 9], Skeete was stopped and searched while in Cole Hill and a .38 pistol and five rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
He was taken into custody along with the items and slapped with the charges. ~~Adz:Right~~
According to the laws of the Federation, if Skeete had pleaded not-guilty to the charges, he would have been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until application was made to the High Court for bail.
However, this media house received information that the 25-year-old pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to serve five years imprisonment on each count. Both sentences are to run consecutively.
SKNVibes was reliably informed that sometime today Skeete would be shipped to St. Kitts where he will begin serving his sentence.
