    POLICE/COURT ROUND UP

    ~~Adz:Right~~ BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CLOSE to $4 000 in revenue is to be collected from persons who appeared before the Federation’s magistrate’s court and were convicted and fined.

     

    St. Pauls Villager Cliffroy Maynard, who was taken before the District “B” Magistrate’s Court in Sandy Point on Monday (Sept. 8), was convicted for driving without due care and attention and fined $800, which is to be paid within three months or, if in default, would have to serve one month imprisonment.

     

    The offence was committed on June 16, 2008.

     

    A $1 000 fine was handed down to Vincent Dyer of Westbourne Ghaut, who was taken before the District “A” Magistrate Court in Basseterre on a charge of “wounding” Sylvester Herbert of Fiennes Avenue. The incident occurred on January 31, 2008 and the sum is to be paid within three months or he will have to serve one month imprisonment.

     

    Assault, making use of insulting language and making use of indecent language were the charges of which Devon Percival of Buckley’s Estate was convicted.

     

    On the first charge, he was fined $1 000 which is to be paid within three months or one month imprisonment, and on the second he was fined $250 which is to be paid within three months or one month imprisonment while a $250 fine was imposed on the third charge. He is required to pay the fine within three months or serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    The offences were committed against Molyneaux resident Charles Clarke on October 19, 2007.

     

    For making use of indecent language and making use of threatening language, Jareth Julian of Carifesta Village was convicted and fined $500 which is to be paid within two weeks or, in default, serve two weeks at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    The offences were committed against Muriel Davis of Monkey Hill, St. Peters on June 11, 2008.

     

    Maurice Fraites-Kelly of Stapleton Village was severely warned by the court after he was convicted of making use of indecent language.

     

    ARRESTS

     

    The court is expected to shortly hear pleas from three individuals who were recently arrested and charged by the authorities.

     

    Challengers Village resident Shawn Forbes was arrested and charged for resisting arrest and battery on police.

     

    For the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply, Tyrone Fyfiled of Ponds Extension was arrested and charged.

     

    Bernard Browne Jr. of Cole Hill, Gingerland, Nevis was arrested and charged with two counts of carrying abroad an offensive weapon.
