BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 12th 2012 (SKNIS) - The Regional Security System (RSS) is poised to deliver its latest training initiative designed to assist member states to process crime scenes.
 
“We’ll be conducting a scene of crime train the trainer course in St. Lucia at the end of October... and that would be to train instructors who will then be conducting training in each country,” stated Commander Tyrone James, the RSS Director of Operations and Training. “In November, we will conduct the RSS Staff and Command Course which will also be in St. Lucia.”
 
Commander James added that follow up training will be done for crime scene first responders in the respective countries. The courses are likely to be done in January and will cater to 24 persons. The RSS official stressed that the regional agency continues to work on behalf of the population of member states namely Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
 
“We have to be selling, not only the RSS, but what we are doing within the RSS and the persons who are supporting us,” he stressed. “... Up to this point we have received significant support from the Government of Canada and we would like to just express our appreciation ... because times are rough now and everybody started cutting back.”
 
“... people in the RSS member states should know [that] the RSS is still functioning on their behalf,” the Commander concluded.
 
According to its website www.rss.org.bb, the Regional Security System (RSS) was founded in 1982 and comprises both military and police personnel. The agency is guided by a Memorandum of Understanding which makes provision for countries to assist each other with security units during an emergency.
