~~Adz:Left~~  BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – HUNDREDS of children are eagerly anticipating the annual fair organized by the St. Paul’s Primary School as today’s (Sept. 12) festivity is predicted to be much bigger than previous years.

Speaking to SKNVibes, John Gumbs, Deputy Principal and coordinator of the event, said he is very pleased to be a part of the fair which has grown to be a focal element in the area. He explained that the fair has been held every year in the month of May from since the very inception of the school and added that this year it was changed to be held around this time to celebrate the tradition along with the 25th Independence of the Federation.

“We felt like it was fitting to hold the fair at this time of the year in order to celebrate along with the country as it is more like an activity geared toward celebrating Independence. Although it is organized by the school, it is more than just a school fair,” Gumbs said.

He further stated that one can look forward to an Independence display of national wear and dish, traditional games, eating competitions and a grand raffle for a new bicycle. He added that one of the main highlights of the event is the traditional plaiting of the ribbon which “no one can afford to miss”.

Gumbs encouraged the general public to come out and support the event as always, as he hopes that this year’s fair would draw close to 500 patrons.

The fair will be held from 2-10pm and music will be provided by Jordan’s Hi-fi. Admission to the fun and frolicking is an affordable EC $1 which will go toward school maintenance.
