No gas shortage!! Gas en route to pumps

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – West Side Service Station customers who were met this morning by an “out of gas” sign when they sidled in to fill their gas tanks, are being assured that a supply of fuel will be available sometime during this afternoon.

Yesterday, West Side Service Station (WSSS) customers reported to SKNVibes that when they went there with the purpose of filling their tanks, they were met by a makeshift barricade at the pumps and were told the there was no fuel.  During the early afternoon hours, gasoline was delivered to the service station and customers were able to get their fill.

Late this morning, however, SKNVibes was informed of a possible recurrence of yesterday’s ordeal and contacted owner of the WSSS Damian Hobson. He confirmed that the station was indeed out of gas and said it was because the vessel which supplies SOL EC. Ltd. with product did not arrive to the island as scheduled.  ~~Adz:Right~~

SOL EC Ltd.’s Country Manager for St. Kitts Nevis and Antigua Ivan Hanley was also contacted and he said that there “is no shortage and no delivery problem” as far as he was aware.

He however confirmed what Hobson contended and explained that SOL was to have received product yesterday which would have been passed on to the respective service stations but because of weather conditions, the shipment was delayed.

“SOL will be receiving product today and as soon as that happens, the service stations will be supplied,” Hanley informed.

Apparently, owing to the temporary ‘shortage’ at the WSSS, customers flocked to other service stations including the TEXACO at Wellington Road to get their fill. Reports from the scene indicated long lines of vehicles waiting up to 20 minutes for a turn at the pumps.
