By: Jenise Ferlance, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A man is presently standing trial for allegedly engaging in unlawful carnal knowledge with a female under the age of 14.

The trial began yesterday (Oct. 24) with Rhonda Nisbett-Browne at the head of the prosecution team while the accused is being represented by Jason Hamilton.

The illicit act is said to have been committed on July 23, 2011 in Middle Island.

The prosecution called five witnesses to give evidence on their behalf and after resting their case, the accused opted not to testify but called one person to do so on his behalf.

Today (Oct. 25), the resident judge would be summarising the case after which the jury would retire for deliberation. A verdict is expected today.
