BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (FEBRUARY 23RD 2004) – Nevis is to get assistance from the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA).
The Miami-based volunteer corps has agreed to sponsor a tourism development project.
FAVACA President, Julieta Valls told the Communications Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office, that at the request of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, it will assist in recreating a blacksmith’s shop from the 19th century that will serve to attract tourism to the area.
FAVACA has just completed a one week training session for 14 teachers of the Special Education Unit along with 8 members of the Advisory Committee on St. Kitts.
The programme also resulted in the development of the Unit’s first-ever curriculum.
The assistance by FAVACA follows discussions in Miami last year between St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas, Florida Governor, the Hon. Jeb Bush, Bush and the FAVICA President and other officials on several other initiatives. |
