The Cable celebrates 25 years of service

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A list of events is scheduled for September 14-18 in celebration of The Cable’s 25th Anniversary of providing quality service to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

This celebration comes on the heels of the nation’s Silver Jubilee Independence celebrations and marks a great achievement for the company.

Marketing Manager Glen Phillip told SKNVibes that the milestone is very important to The Cable as it shows the progress that has been made since 1983. 

He added that the business started on a very small scale but over the years it has grown to incorporate not only cable but also internet and telephony into its services.

“This accomplishment has surpassed our expectations of the business. 

We have always remained on the cutting edge of technology, and so, this 25th anniversary shows 25 years of progress, quality customer service and community involvement. 

We had no idea that we would have been dealing with internet and long distance calls, but now we have it and we are now considering introducing High Definition Television (HDTV).  

“We have had many cases of community service. We have partnered with the Caribbean Cable Company to donate US $1000 to an outstanding group in the country. We work with the hospital, schools, the airport, pre-schools... in providing free service.”

The celebrations began with a church service on September 14 at the St. Georges’ Anglican Church and include a presentation to the Children Home and Customer Appreciation Day on September 17 and 18 respectively. 

The major highlight of the event is a banquet slated for September 15 at the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Hotel to acknowledge and appreciate the companies with which they have had close partnership.

He indicated that the next 25 years would be of even greater success which would see the utilization of advanced technology, improving customer service and expanding the company’s role in community development.
